How did I get started? It's all thanks to a nun and dancing.
When I was thirteen I saw Nunsense II. The lights went down and out of the back of the audience came the nuns. They were going around speaking with some audience members. One nun, Sister Mary Amnesia, came to me. She said "Don't you look like a good church going girl?" It was at that moment that I realized "Hey, these people are real." Looking back it seems kind of sad, but that is how I got the little bug put in my head.
My first audition was for Peter Pan. I went to the dance call for children and then received a call back for the adult dance call. I was fourteen and they were considering me for an adult! The short version, I was there all night and left exhausted but happy. About a week later I got the call that changed my life for ever. They wanted me to be the Ostrich! Yes, THE OSTRICH. Now I'm sure that there are a few of you that don't remember an ostrich in the play, but there is and that was my first role. It confirmed the bug and here I am today, still doing what I love.
I went to school at Western Kentucky University and did summer stock every summer until graduation. After I graduated with my BFA in acting and directing, I moved to Houston. I have performed with Main Street Theater, TheatreLaB, COM Theatre and Bayou City Concert Musicals.
